Hosting a Baby Shower

Bo's cousin is going to have a baby in March. Bo's mom, sister-in-law, aunt, and I hosted a baby shower for his cousin. Here are a few pictures from the shower.

My sister-in-law and I worked on the greenery and flower petals. I don't do flowers so I thought sister-in-law and I did an okay job. The punch was so good that we had to make a second batch of it during the shower.
Petits Fours they were so good and so cute. We purchased these, but learning to decorate cakes is on my list of things to do one day.

Purchased these beautiful flowers from Fresh Market. They do such a great job and are very reasonable with flower arrangements. If there is one near you definately check it out.
Just a picture of our food table.

Hosting a shower can drain the energy out you. Today I took a two hour nap. I hope to start sewing tomorrow, and I got more pom poms to make another strand of garland.

Tired

If January is any indication on how the rest of my year is going to go.
I'm going to be so tired by the time 2011 rolls around.
But I'm looking forward to enjoying all the rest of the days of 2010.
No matter how tiring they are.

nephew's birthday

I can't believe that my nephew is three. It seems like the time has gone by so quickly. I love him so much! His birthday party had a train theme. The train came to the party.
Nephew and his Grandmother riding the train
I was the official photographer of the party and Bo was the official videographer. I'll let you know that I took way more pictures than Bo took video.

This is the train on the trailer.

This is a picture from inside the train. It was a little small for a large adult, but the kids loved it

Stocking?

Some of you know that I'm going to get a niece in April. Well, since there will be a new member of my family I will make her a stocking for at my parent's house. My mom has requested that I use a fabric with Santa in it. I looked in my fabric stash the other night and this is the only Santa fabric I could come up with.
If my mom likes it this will be my nieces stocking. If my mom doesn't like it I will keep looking because I don't mind going shopping for fabric.

Pearl Quest

This little game is taking up a lot of my time. This was one Bo's stocking stuffers, and I'm the one who plays it our after hour. I guess unless you consider high score I haven't done anything creative lately.

Pom Pom Garland

I needed garland on one of my Christmas trees for next year. Well, I saw on a blog this idea. (I so wish I could tell you which one and give the woman credit, but I can't remember for the life of me and I didn't save it. )
I have gotten two bags of these pom poms at Micheal's. Each bag makes about a 5 1/2 foot strand of garland. I used wax thread to string the pom pom.
This is how it looks strung along the Christmas tree. Yes, this is my Christmas tree. It stood naked in the corner of our living room until yesterday. It has either rained and Bo couldn't go get the box it belonged in or we were out of town. My mom jokingly told me we should leave it up until Easter. But now it is down and my living room seems bigger.

I think I will only need to maybe 10 -15 more strands of garland. Good thing they only take a half hour to make.

Cultural Experience

While we were in California Bo and I had a conversation that went something like this:
Bo: I think we would go to The Getty a lot if we lived near it.
Me: We live close to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Art and have never been in 5 years we have been together.
Bo: Good Point.
Me: Lets make it a goal for the year to experience something that our goal to experience something culturally at least once a month.
Bo: Sounds like a good idea, but lets just make it something we always say were going to do, but just don't that is offered around town.
Me: Like the Biscuits baseball team.
Bo: Yes
It was agreed that we will experience something a new around town or the state or even over into GA. So many times Bo and I have said oh that would be cool to go to and then we just don't go. No more excuses. So if you live in the state of Alabama and have any suggestions I would like to hear them!

These are some of the things I have thought of:
Callaway Gardens - GA
The Little White House - Warm Springs GA
The Montgomery Museum of Fine Art
The Shakespear Festival
The Zoo -we just never go
Biscuits Baseball
Broadway Under the Stars
Montgomery Ballett
McWane Center - B-Ham

National Championship Game

I haven't been around for a while because we were off in Southern California. Let me just say the weather out there was so much nicer than what I came back to.

Bo had promised me that if Alabama made it to the National Championship Game that if we went I could go to Disney Land. Well Alabama made it...

And I got to go to Disney Land. Disney Land is different from Disney World, but I wasn't disappointed in the park as much as the service there. I had to keep on reminding myself that this is a different park and should be treated as such.

Sleeping Beauty's Castle is much smaller than Cinderella's Castle

I am really tired right now. So I don't know how much I will post this week. I must admit that we still have our Christmas tree up. It is undecorated and is just waiting to go in the box, but it still standing in the corner waiting to be taken down.

Fourth Christmas

Another hard year to decide. We had been on a cruise this year and we had gone to Philadelphia, but I didn't like any picture.
I think part of that was because I had planned my Christmas cards out before we even went on our trip to PA. I just knew we were going to have our picture taken in front of the Liberty Bell and do a patriotic card. That just didn't happen. If you have ever visited the Liberty Bell you know it is one of the worse places to do a decent photograph. I should have know because the pictures my dad took of my brother and I there when we were kids have tons of people in the background. Well, that has not improved. I don't know why they just don't have a spot to stand on in front of the Bell and have someone take your picture. I'm sure for a decent picture I would pay $20.00. Anyway, back to our card. I ended up with a picture from our cruise, a picture in front of the Nittany Lion on Penn State's campus, and a picture of Bo and I at the farm on Thanksgiving. This card to me is just a card. I guess it is had such high expectations and they just didn't turn out. It is like a craft fail. On the other hand Bo loves this card. He tells everyone, "As soon as Blakely showed it to me I knew it was perfect." That goes to show you what expectations will do to you.

Roll Tide

Okay, today is the National Title game, and well we are REA LY excited in the state of Alabama. We will see how excited we are tomorrow. I was at last years lost to Utah. So I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch.
By the way I'm not really a football fan. But it is hard not to get swept up in the excitement. Bo loves Alabama football and because I love him I go to the games. Most days I could find something petter to do, but then again when I dragging him to some place he doesn't want to go he goes because he loves me and I go because I love him.
Bo actually thinks I'm a funny fan because I will wear Auburn, Alabama or Troy gear depending on who is playing. A winning football team is a win for our state. That being said Roll Tide.

Third Christmas Card

It took me a long time to decide what to put on our card. I even thought about not sending a card our third year because I just couldn't find a picture I liked. Then when I was looking at the card backgrounds at Walgreens.com it hit me. Our picture in front of Biltmore House! Yeah, it really isn't the best picture of us, but with it saying "Happy Holidays from our house to yours", I couldn't loose. I got tons of comments mostly asking about when we were going to have an open house party. Actually, one girl said to me, "It wasn't until I was putting away my cards that I finally got yours, and I just laughed and laughed." My boss actually said that I must be getting paid to much to afford this house. Don't worry I could never afford this house.
In the end I'm so glad that I sent it out. It actually showed the humorous side of Bo and I. Who cares if it's not the best picture because it was funny.

Second Christmas

I had to beg my mom for a copy of this card (Thanks Mom! I really appreciate it.) because I had sent out all of my copies and had forgotten to keep one for myself. Lucky for me my mom willingly gave me hers from the fridge. By the way there are tons of other pictures on my mom's fridge. It is like a collage of my life along with my bother, sister-in-law and nephew's lives. I love it and hope my fridge looks like that. One reason Bo and I haven't gotten a stainless steal refrigerator, magnets won't stick.
Back to the card, this was the year I turned 30! And we celebrated by going to Disney World. Again we couldn't agree on a single picture so we went for a picture from each park. Yes, we do have matching shirts on in the one picture. I would really suggest that if you ever visit Disney.

First Christmas

I know that it isn't sewing, but I have been doing some crafting.
Since we first got married I have hung our Christmas card on the fridge and it has just stayed there. Most people send brag letters, we don't. But I have been told that we send brag pictures. Well my Christmas cards were getting messed up and I wanted a way let me see how our family has changed over the year or what we have done.
I have made scrapbooks before and thought this would be a good idea. This week I'll will show you our Christmas cards and the pages that I have done. It really didn't take much time since we have only been married for four Christmas.
This is from our First Christmas together. It was taken on our Honeymoon, and I have to say it has to be my most favorite picture of us taken together, EVER! Bo and I went back and forth over which picture went on this card. In the end I won, he didn't like the stubble on his face in this picture, but I told him it just added to the beach/relaxed look. What is funny is my mom still has this card on her fridge and Bo's mom has it hanging in her office. So I guess it was a winner.

Road Trip

Bo and I feel like we are on the road all the time. This time we took Bo's cousins back to their house. We really enjoyed their visit, but we sadly had to take them home.

It was a pretty much uneventful trip. M listening to her music.
This is the only picture T would let me take of him.

We went way down into the state of Florida. I don't think I have ever seen this many orange trees in a while. Before this trip the furthest south I have been is Orlando and we development has pretty much taken down most of the orange groves.
On the way back I followed the GPS system and it pretty much told us the wrong way or should I say the back way down county roads. We actually had to stop to let a turkey cross the road. It was an interest road trip and I would do it again. Hopefully next time I will be bringing M and T to visit us.
