Wow! This is my 100th post!

I don't have a giveway, but I did find this quarterly "bloggy" giveaway. I actually didn't sew last night because I was looking at these blogs and there giveaways. Many of them are amazing.

The Fair Is Coming!

Last night in between laundry, dishes and vacuuming, I had time to look at this years Alabama National Fair book. I don't think that I will qualify for the "Busy Bee" Special Award this year, but I hope to enter as many contest as possible. The last two years I haven't really been able to participate, but this is my year. Do any of you participate in your State or Local Fair?

New Fabric

I purchased this fabric this weekend. It was on sale, and I really wanted to try and make Simplicity 2911 hipster style. This has to be my favorite style of purse.

This is what they are calling the outside. Which I don't like
This is what they are calling the inside which I do like. I'm planning to use this as the outside.
Another new project I hope to get finished soon.

It Has Been One Of Those Weeks!!

Which really means, I had very little time for sewing. I actually feel asleep on the couch last Monday and Tuesday nights.

Bo and I went to dinner with his brother and his new fiance on Wednesday night. Congratulations to Michael and Hannah.

Did I get to sew Thursday night? Well, no I had to pack to go to my in-laws house to run the store again. They needed and enjoy there well earned vacation. So it was no problem, and there is nothing like spending time in a small town. I just love it. If only they had a local fabric or quilt store.

I know that this looks like a random picture of an eggplant. Which it kind of is. My boss gave it to me and it was so pretty I had to take a picture. It tasted good too.
My sewing machine was acting up again. So I took it to the shop they adjusted to the bobbin casing tension. This helped on some of the fabric I used, but not all of it. I think that the automatic thread tension adjuster is messed up. I guess I will have to take it back again.
I did finish these shorts for my nephew. The stitches look horrible, but he won't care.
I made these flannel pants and the stitches look wonderful. These are part of nephews Christmas present.
This pajama top is made from Simplicity 9553 and every time I make it I have the same problem, the v neck banding. I don't know if it is me of if it is the directions.

Vacation and Birthday

Nope, it wasn't my vacation or my birthday. It was vacation time for my in-laws and my dad's birthday. My in-laws have an independent family run grocery store about an hour from our house, and when they go away my husband goes home to help run it. (He absolutely loves this.) I can run the register in a pinch, but I am usually very useless there. My parents live another hour past my in-laws. Just to let you know how much driving we did.
Before we ate a wonderful meal of hot wings and onion rings, we played with puzzles.
We sang, "Happy Birthday" to my dad. My nephew absolutely loves this song and thinks that every time it is sung it for him.

I took advantage of Bo's time at the store and cut out several patterns. The above pictured Simplicity dog quilt took forever to cut out, but from reading the instructions it doesn't look that it is hard to sew.
I also cut out an apron, a pair of sleep short, a pair of pajama pants, and the a pair of pajamas the only thing is I ran out of fabric for the sleeves and I won't be able to go to Hancock's until tomorrow night. I hope they still have some.
This is us opening the store this morning before we drove home to go to our regular jobs. If Bo didn't love the Store so much it would make it much much harder to do.

Plans - What Plans

No, sewing for me, but let me explain. (Man, I sound like a little kid.) I totally believe that when I want to sew the entire world works against me.

While watching Bob Costas' special on HBO, I did get to cut out all of the pattern pieces. I plan on making the dog shaped blanket for Nephew for Christmas.
I ironed the fabric I intend to use for the dog blanket.
I ironed the fabric to make a pair of AU sleep shorts.
I want to make a pair of flannel PJ's out of this fabric.

This apron also needs to be made.
I have all of these projects lined up, just waiting to be made. My machine is now in the car on its way to go to the shop. I think that the timing is off.

I Promise - to sew tonight

Man, life has just got in the way of my sewing time. But tonight I will actually get something done. Check back tomorrow and see what I accomplished anything. It will be a surprise for both of us.

Pillows and Poker

Last night, Bo was at a friends house playing poker. This allowed me plenty of time to finish up my pillows for the couch. I got a great deal on the fabric, $4.00 for the fabric for both pillows. The fabric was purchased at King Cotton, a local decorator fabric store. It has a bargain basement, with great deals.
I would like to thank the ladies at Quilt Taffy for the wonderful fabric that I won. I love it so much. I may not be able to cut it.

Bad Luck and A Winner

Okay, first off with the bad luck. Everything I touched this weekend something went wrong with it. Like when I was making my nephew a pair of shorts that I cut out a couple of weeks ago. I ended up with two right legs and no left leg. I did get to finish one of three pillows for the living room (pictured below), but when I was stuffing it the seam ripped on it. Hancock Fabrics gave me the royal run around on my drapery fabric, so I was unable to purchase it or make my curtains. They told me on my second trip and third sales associate that it could be anywhere from two weeks to three months until it comes in. After this disappointment, I moved on to making curtains for the bedroom out of a sheet which I miss cut. At this point I put down the scissors and moved on to other projects, none of which had anything to do with sewing.

By the way we had a great 4th of July with the In-Laws. We will continue celebrating this upcoming weekend with my family.

Now, on to the winner, and. We accomplished the following items:

  1. Pick Up Prescription
  2. Drop Off Dry Cleaning
  3. Purchase New Blinds -They look great
  4. Visited the In-Laws and watched some beautiful fireworks
  5. Exercises -These are for my feet. I have plantars fasciitis and heel spurs.
  6. The Quarter Round is down in the Master Bedroom
  7. The Quarter Round is down in the Guest Bedroom
  8. The Wood Floor is all down in the Guest Bedroom
  9. Thresholds are glued down
  10. Dishes - To keep up with them we did four loads. I so hate it when I have to wash the extra large items. They take up so much room in the dishwasher.
  11. Trash- I took all the big boxes to the City's weekly drop off site.
  12. Laundry - did more than I wanted to mention.
  13. Purchased a prize - See picture below.
  14. The day gown now has lace on both sides of the front placket.
Making the winner Stacy from Stacy Sews. Your prize is pictured below.(Sorry, Daddy your not the winner. My dad is a very loyal reader. )

I Feel Like Screaming

I feel like Macauley Culkin, I want to be home alone minus the home invasion. I have this huge, long to do list. I was going to share it with everyone, but now I have lost my to do list. I guess on the top of my new list will be to find my old list. As you have probably guest it there is very little time to sew.
I should add that Home Alone is one of my favorite movies, I love watching it at Christmas time. It reminds me of the time my cousin, my brother, and I spent together. We all live in different locations and don't get to spend as much time together as we would like, but we have had many many of hours of fun together.

A Break From Painting

Last night, I took a much needed break from painting to sew. I really didn't get to sew, but I did cut out Butterick's B4209 which contained over 30 pattern pieces. Cutting out all of these puppets left me with no time to sew. But I think my nephew will enjoy them. Below is just a fun picture of my nephew's first ride on the caroucel.

Hopefully, I can paint and finish the trim in our bedroom tonight, and then I'll be able to sew the rest of the week.
