Plastic Birthday Dishes

I know what you are thinking about more dishes! Is this women obsessed with dishes and well the answers is ...Yes! But this isn't what you think.
My sister -in-law, C, host wonderful kids birthday party, and she gave me a great idea.  As I was leaving my  nephews birthday party I asked C if I could borrow her plastic red serving bowls.  She said I could and then told me that they were $1.00 at Walmart and that was a pretty good deal.
Bo and I got to thinking about it and  most themes for boys b-day parties involve the color red so we invested $20.00 in our new party wear.  I am so excited because I'm not throwing something away every year. If I divide the cost over the next 10 years it will average out to only $2 a party and if I was to have another child and it was boy the cost per party would go down even more.
Just an idea I wanted to share with you.

Birthday Outfit

As you can tell Boo's birthday party has a monkey theme.  So of course he had to have an outfit with monkey's on it.  How lucky for me that I had this fabric in my fabric stash.  The only problem I had was I was a few inches short for a pair of paints.  So I fixed it by adding the red trim at the bottom.

New Coat Hanger

Boo got a train table for Christmas and we had an extra piece.  We didn't want to just toss it out.  We thought about what to do with it, and Bo decided a coat rack would be a great thing to do with it.
Extra train table piece.

First coat of paint

Time for the Mod Podge.

Cutout made from the new Cricut.

Hanging on the wall it looks great.  Thanks Bo for the great idea.  Total cost was about $10.

Cricut Snowflakes

Cricut was celebrating a large number of follower on Facebook with some free cuts until the end of the month.  I took advantage of this by cutting a few of the snowflakes.
This ski snowflake is much larger than it appears in this picture.
This nativity snowflake is more than likely going into a 12x12 frame to be hung up each year at Christmas.  I love replacing my regular art work with Christmas artwork

Both of the red and green ones are the size of an ornament.  These would make great gifts for Sunday School teachers and church nursery workers.

I think I'm interested in purchasing this Cricut Cartridge.

Lego Party for Nephew

Nephew turned 6 this weekend and his parents hosted a wonderful Lego party.
Lego Cookies.

The party was at a local Chuckee Cheese like place.  Boo rode a lot of rides

He got into the theme of the party by wearing a Star Wars Lego shirt.  The birthday boy also had one on.

A sign of a good time - is when you have to be carried out because you feel asleep from all the fun.

Going Bananas for Boo's Birthday

I have a Cricut machine and I love it.  It helped me make both my invitations and party hat for the birthday boy.

Inside of the invitations read: Monkey See, Monkey Do, Boo is turning two! Come go Bananas with us.

I had wanted to do a Curious George theme but there was very little out there for a Curious George party so I just went with a monkey theme in a Curious George color theme.  More crafts to come.

Relationship Movies

I just realized that we have been watching a lot of movies lately.  This weekend we rented Hope Springs and Five-Year Engagement.  Neither one of them were that great.  Actually, I would tell you just to skip Five-Year Engagement.  It was long and took forever to get to the point so much so that I looked it up on Wiki and we fast forwarded to the end.  The language in it was horrible.  I know that makes me sound like a prude.

Hope Springs - was an okay movie. It was also very slow, and Tommy Lee Jones was a very unlikable character and I hated that because I love him as an actor.  This movie did make both Bo and I think a lot about our own relationship and were we don't want it to go. I think in the end this movie said relationships take a lot of work to make them last.

Weekend Away

Blogger and I are not agreeing with each other tonight so I can't show you any pictures

Bo, Boo and I have spent the last few days away. Just the three of us.  We enjoyed some swimming, site seeing and football.

It is nice to be home, but I hate all the dirty laundry that came  back with us.

Holiday Movies

Let me start off my saying - I love Red Box.  I don't think I would watch nearly as many movies if I didn't have Red Box. So over the Holidays I have watched several movies. Some were better than I thought others not so much.

I will also say I must be getting old because the first two movies had some bad language in them that I didn't think added anything to them.

1st - The Words. I rented this movie because there wasn't much left at the Red Box.  Bo and I were both pleasantly surprised at this movie. It not only entertained us, but also made us think.  We are still talking about the ending. I would highly recommend it.
2nd: Trouble with the Curve.  I was so looking forward to seeing this movie.  I love baseball movies, the Braves, Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams all of these things made for a good movie, but not great.  There were times that it was slow.  The best surprise in the entire movie was Justin Timberlake.  He did a great job! Glad I didn't go see this movie at the theater, but good for a rental.  This movie really had heart which is missing in some movies lately.
3rd - Parental Guidance - (In the last year I have won 5 movie tickets and the last one was expiring.  I spent a few days with my mom and we went to the movies together. My aunt nicely babysat for me. It was great to spend time with my mom.)  Back to the movie review - This was a classic comedy.  It reminded me a lot of 80's and 90's comedies.  I will rent this one when it comes out.  Predictable at times, but it really made me laugh. As we were leaving the movies my aunt who lives 1,000 miles away called my mom and told her she had to see this movie I think it will have a good word of mouth.

I will let you know that I also saw The Hobbit.   Bo wanted to see this movie for his birthday so I went with him, but seeing as I haven't seen any of the other movies or read any of the books I was a little lost.  Also it was kind of slow in the beginning.  I sleep during the first 30-45 min. Some of the fight scenes were kind of graphic.

Have you seen any good movies lately?

Happy New Year!

We ate my traditional meal of pork and sauerkraut.  Don't worry Bo had his black eyed peas for lunch. Boo tried the sauerkraut and really seemed to like it.
Hope everyone had a Christmas and a Happy New Year!
