Pirate Day + Free Doughnuts

Krispy Kreme had a wonderful promotion yesterday on Talk Like A Pirate Day! Bo didn't understand a first what we got for dressing like pirates, but once he figured out it was a dozen doughnuts he was up in the attic digging around for an old Pirate costume.
You only had to wear 3 pirate items to count.  We both made it even though Bo was more like a Jimmy Buffet pirate rather than a real pirate.
Fascinated by the doughnut making process. We had to watch for a long time.
We couldn't find a parrot but we did find a first Mate.  Boo didn't have as much fun as Bo and I did.  Since we are eating gluten free these doughnut went to Bo's co-workers to enjoy.

Best Green Beans EVER - Super Easy

I got this recipe from my former boss who got it from this girl I used to go to church with - so in no way is this an original recipe, but it is one of my favorites.

2 cans of green beans drained
1 bottle of Ken's Sun-dried Tomato Dressing
1 container of Feta Cheese

Soak the green beans in the dressing for several hours.
Before baking top with Feta Cheese and bake for about 20-30 min at 350.

That is it! They are wonderful!

I will say I have made them in a crock pot for a church function (different church) and the older woman are now making it in their circle, but they have assured me that they won't bring it to any church functions that this will be my assigned dish for covered dish meals.  This just made me laugh! I all I could think about was showing up to a covered dish meal with 15 different making the same thing.

Mickey and Minnie

Boo - Day 1 at Disney World. I have a matching skirt and red shirt.  Bo will just wear a red shirt.
Boo- Day 2 at Magic Kingdom.  Bo and I will not match Boo, but we will match each other.  Our Halloween costumes last year were made out of this fabric and I had wanted to get something else this year, but Boo told me he loved this fabric so we have it in shorts this year.
Minnie Mouse shirt for Gran and Cousin.  I don't know which one of them is more excited about matching that day.  Cousin had to try her outfit on as soon as I gave it to her, and it fit perfect.  Always a good thing when making something for someone who doesn't live with you.

Donald Safari

We are going to have breakfast with Donald in Animal Kingdom. So we must have matching shirts.  I know one day Boo is going to be like their is no way I'm dressing like you two so I much get as much of it now as long as I can.

Star Wars & Disney

We have a big trip coming up.  This year we are lucky enough to go to Disney World with my inlaws because they are retiring and taking there children and grandchildren to celebrate.  Bo and I have pretty much planned the entire trip since we have been so much.

Well, a trip to the World requires that I make some new clothes.  I had my embroidery machine going all the time for a few days.  I think I have everything made if not its not getting made at this point.

My Favorite:  Mickey and Minnie Star Wars

Boo got a pair of Star Wars short and I made myself a matching skirt but I forgot to take a picture.

These designs were purchased off of Etsy from two different designers.

Washing the Car

Sometimes my van needs a good washing and Boo and his dad are nice enough to do it for me.
Sometimes Boo just gets a little distracted and washes a brick instead.

Thomas Outfit

This is him posing for the camera.  What a ham!
We LOVE Thomas the Tank Engine right now at my house.  So I had to make a pair of shorts and pocket t when I found this fabric at Hobby Lobby. Boo grabbed the bolt and said "I LOVE" I knew then I couldn't leave without it.  He loved his outfit and posed for a few pictures before going back to playing.

Boo Likes Cake

We are mostly on a gluten free diet.  We have been trying this since June and all of us have seen some kind of good results.  There is only one problem birthday celebrations and CAKE.  Boo LOVES it.

Celebrating Gran's B-day.  His grandmother was more than willing to give him a cupcake and he enjoyed all of it.
We celebrated his aunts birthday and he had a piece of cake in his mouth before we could stop him.  This is him licking his fingers.  We have talked about and decided that at special occasions he will be allowed a piece of cake, but not a regular habit.  I know he will be counting down to the next time we eat cake.

Open

Boo has figured out how to open the fridge door himself.  It wasn't so bad until the day he opened it up and said "nothing there" and walked away.  I have to admit there wasn't much in it that day, but to hear it from a 2 year old was funny.

Beach Time!

We have ended our summer with a trip to the beach for about 12 years now.  We did take off two years:  1 year was because my dad was in ICU and last year because we couldn't go without him.  I think the break helped us.  But I'm glad we have picked up the tradition again and I know he would be glad that we did too.  It is a good weekend for Boo to spend with his Aunt, Uncle and Cousins and Grandmother.  We really just hang around the condo, watch football, swim in the pool and play in the sand.  One night we go out and enjoy the things a beach town has to offer.
Boo got to ride the Cubbie Caboose.

He also got to ride the carosel twice. The second time he became much braver than the first.
He loved the gulf and the sand and sun.
 Soaking up the sun
He would stand at the door waiting to go out to either the pool or the beach.  When we got home he asked to go again.  Looking forward to next year.
