Glasses

We went to McDonald's the other day, and they had Shrek glasses for sale. I had to get one. I remember getting Smurf, Garfield, Charlie Brown, Star Trek and numerous different Disney glasses from a number of different fast food places that Shrek just had to join the list. I just love it when fast food does this type of promotion. Most of mine have either gotten broken or have been sold at yard sales.
Have you ever purchased these type of glasses? If so do you still have them?

Paint Trade

My friend Lizzie is a very talented artist who loves Soy Joys. I can usually find Soy Joys pretty cheap. So I trade her Soy Joys for paintings. I think we both make out pretty good. This is my latest painting I traded for. I love the colors and texture. I now just have to find somewhere to hang it in my house.

Strawberry Falldown Cake

I know many of you have seen this cake before. It is my mother-in-laws Strawberry Cake, but I changed the icing recipe I added two bars of cream cheese to the icing. It tasted wonderful. You see our church has a dessert cooking contest/concert every spring. It doesn't have to be an original recipe. By the time Bo and I got to church my cake had slid every where and looked horrible. They asked us for a name and Bo said Strawberry Fall Down Cake. There were tons of strawberry cakes and needless to say I didn't win, but now I do know what to expect for next year.

Smile

I just thought everyone could use a little smile today. I just loved this garden art when I saw it at the Dollar General. I was so glad it was only a $1.00 because I had to have it.

New Look

I got a new Welcome sign for our front yard. Bo thinks it is a little loud, but it was either this or one that didn't fit my house at all. This one makes me think of fun and sun. Oh! I so want to go to the beach.
I wanted to show you our front flower beds. Bo and his dad worked very hard on them on Saturday. They pulled up the old mulch, trimmed the bushes, planted a rose bush, and laid pine straw. It looks great.

Visiting Family

Yesterday we went Bo's aunt and uncle's farm. It was lots of fun because we got to see some of his cousins that we don't see to often. It rained most of the afternoon so we weren't able to go fishing or ride four wheelers.

Bo did find a comfortable chair on the front porch to take a nap in. He says he wasn't sleeping, but he was.
We did get a chance to ride a round and see many of gardens on the property.

All in all it was a fun afternoon. And the food was amazing

Grease Removal

You are probably are wondering why I took a picture of a toothbrush and Dawn Dish Detergent. Well, I got grease all over a new skirt. I had never worn it before new skirt.
After discussing how to get the stain out I remembered an old home remedy- Dawn Dish Detergent, and it worked. It removed all of the grease from my skirt.
After seeing this Bo gave me a pair of his favorite short that he got grease on about two years ago to try it on. Dawn also worked at getting the grease out of these short even though we thought the stain had been set in.
So even though this may sound like a commercial for Dawn it isn't. I just was amazed that this old home remedy work, and I hope I remember it the next time I get grease on something.

Tent

This part of our yard still needs some work. I think I'm going to paint the bench this weekend. The umbrella just landed there because I didn't know what else to do with it. I'm really thinking I need a hammock to go in this part of the yard. But that would be mean I had a lot of time to lay in the back yard and take naps.

So Bo and I got tired of waiting for the part to come in for our first tent. Also another piece broke so it was back to the store for that one, and off to Big Lots to get a new one. This tent is 10x12, and very roomy. You should have seen us putting it together. It seemed like a comedy of errors, but we got it done. Now if we only had time to enjoy it.

There are just some marigolds we have in the backyard. I love their big blooms so I thought I would share them with you today.

Happy Mothers' Day

I know this is a day late, but I spent this weekend with mother. I never once logged on to blogger.

This is the fish planter that Bo and I got for my mother. I looks great by the pool.
This is my mom and her fish. We named it Wanda. My really liked it. My brother didn't like taking around back. Luckily, my dad has a hand truck so it made easier.

Gardening Update

Just wanted to show you a quick picture of our garden. Our plants are really growing.

As you can see the squash seeds are coming up. I think we will have to thin them out a little bit. I can't wait until we get some produce. Also next year we have decided not to buy any plants but to start all of our garden from seeds. Has anyone out there tried this?

Memories

Bo and I have been working in our yard a lot lately. Between our garden, planting flowers, trying to put up a tent, which we took back, and regular yard maintenance, we have been busy. But I did have time to go to Joann fabric the other day to look for some spray adhesive. While I was there I found this wonderful pinwheel...

I just had to have it. You see Maw, my grandmother who just died, lived in PA up to 8 years a go. Until she moved we, my mom, dad, and bother and occational cousin, would travel a 1,000 miles to go see her in the summer. During most of those summers she would buy me a pinwheel. Actually, she got me a lot of stuff, I just remember the pinwheel right now. So when I saw this and thought of her and my summers visiting her I had to get it. I remember evenings sitting out on her breezeway talking or catching fireflys in the front yard, or the feel of grass under your feet. She had Kentucky Blue Grass and we had Bramuda or Centapede and nothing feels the same as Kentucky Blue Grass. Just like me and my problems with sqirrels and other animals digging in my yard, Maw had problems with chipmunks digging in hers. I have so many wonderful memories of Maw, most of them involve the summer time. Now everytime I look out the window and see my pinnwheel I can think of them.

Weather

Rain, Rain go away.
Come again another day.
This is what I have been thinking a lot lately.
We have had tons of rain and wind.
I hope that the sun comes out for the rest of the week.
I have a lot of work that needs to be done.
And this weather doesn't help me get anything done.
