Apron Strings

Even though my sewing machine decided to hate me last night - I persevered. I ended up with an apron that I love and will be proud to give as a Christmas gift. This apron is from Simplicity 3752. I will definately make this again!! It went really smoothly except for my machine and its attitude.
I would like to thank my friend Tisha for being my model.

My Sewing Machine

Sorry, I couldn't come up with a clever title for this one!

I thought I would introduce you to my sewing machine. It is a Baby Lock Quilter's Choice. I got this machine right before I got married. We had a yard sale of all the things that we had doubles of or things that just need to be cleaned out. I took the profits from my sale and purchased this machine. I'm sure the smart thing would have been to put the money to paying down debt, paying for some of my wedding or honeymoon. But like any good seamstress that is addicted to her craft - I bought a sewing machine. I would say that I absolutely love it, but I don't. It has a few things about it that I don't like. Mostly the bobbin and how you wind it. Other than that it is good. I actually haven't used all of the options it has.
My old machine is a Kenmore which I still have and use.
I think next time I have a yard sale it will be to buy a serger. Any suggestions?

The Stockings Were Hung By The Chimney With Care!

I'm only a month off, but I have finished Christmas Stockings for December. I used McCalls Pattern 2991 View C. These are for Scott's Aunt and Cousins. This pattern went quickly - my only complaint was that they turned out a little smaller than I thought they would. Now I am energized about sewing.

Pink!

Right now, I am all into the color Pink, and I don't know why? I have always loved the colors blue and purple, but now I seem to want to buy and make everything in pink. You would think that it was the 1950's and Ike and Mamie Eisenhower were in the White House.

One of the things I remember most about the house my dad grew up in was that it had two bathrooms, which set my grandparents house apart from many . The downstairs bathroom was done in mint green tile and the upstairs bathroom was done in pink tile. They were so 1950's. That tile was still up when Maw sold her house in the late 90's.

I'll show you what pink things I'm making tomorrow.

Life Happened

Snow Shovel

The Amish

Whoopie Pies

I had these grand ideas that I was going to blog everyday, and sew in all of my spear time. Then I remembered life happens and plans go out the window. Like last week my mom, my brother, and I made a quick trip to Pennsylvania for a funeral. Pennsylvania is so much prettier in the summer.
I do love the food ... whoopie pies are some of my favorite. My mom makes them, but the ones the Amish make and sell are the best! I also love Hartley's BBQ Potato Chips. I managed to bring back two bags on the airplane without them getting to crushed.
The snow shovel sitting outside the front door is funny to me. This is not something you would see in South Alabama.
Please don't think that is how I want the pictures. I just can't figure out how to lay them out.
Hopefully, tomorrow I can post pictures of my latest projects and then it is off to my nephews 1st birthday party.

Tuesday Night Sewing

Last night I went to sewing which is always fun. I learned a new technique of rolling and whipping. I am working on a daygown that I hope to have finished soon. I think I have been working on it on and off for about 6 months. I'll post pictures of it soon.

Sewing Goals For the New Year

I know that I'm a little late to be posting sewing goals for the new year, but I have finally decided what my goals are:
  1. Clean Out My Sewing Room - At the request of my husband I didn't take a picture.
  2. Sew and Craft As Much As Possible - Because of going back to school I had to give this up, but now that I'm done with school I can start full force.
  3. Complete Started Projects - Enough Said
  4. Make As Many Handmade Christmas Gifts As Possible- Not all have to sewn, and I have already finished 4 gifts.
  5. Experiment more with sewing - For the last several years I have only smocked or worked on French Hand Sewing. I think I would like to make other things in the upcoming year.

I think that all of these goals can be reached.
