Visit to the Hospital

Boo had to spend two nights in the hospital this week. He had his tonsils and adenoids removed. Because of his age we spent the night then he refused to eat or drink so we had to spend an extra night.
I have been holding him and we have been watching movies together.  I figure this will continue until he feels better.
I have several things cut out and I'm ready to sew.

Valentine's Decorations

A valentine's dinner wouldn't be fit without some decorations.  I hung some heart shaped cookie cutters, a pom pom , and a heart garland.  I made the garland last year.  I cut out felt in heart shapes and then chain stitched them together. The table cloth I used was just a piece of heart fabric I have had for several years.

I used the cards that we received from several different people as table decoration.
I have looked at clearence sales and have found some new decorations for next year.

Valentine's Day Food

I cut out pepperoni with a Pampered Chef cookie cutter.  I have to say it didn't cut very well.
So I used scissor to trim them up to make them look like hearts.
Then I moved on to the pizza crust.

Appetizers.  The dip was cream cheese and marshmallow fluff.
 Red Velvet Cupcakes.  Bo's favorite.

  Dinner Plated.

Mardi Gras Breakfast

Last night we held our 1st annual Family Mardi Gras Dinner.
I was crowned the queen of our dinner.
Our decorations.  Since I decided to decorate around lunch I pretty much had to work with what I had.  I couldn't find a bead in the entire house. I hope to decorate more next year.
We had waffles, eggs and sausages.
Next years plans may also include an invitation to some of our other friends with kids.

Discovery Kids Construction Fort

Angle
Doesn't this toy look so cool?  Well, I'll tell you it isn't as cool as it looks.  This is the Discovery Kids Construction Fort. Do NOT buy it if you are tempted.  I got this after Christmas for $5.00 at CVS. I was so excited about it because Boo and I could build a fort with it.  Our couch has attached cushions so we can't build and old fashioned fort.  You would think that this would be a good fill in.
Today it was raining and I thought this was a perfect surprise for such an ugly day.  I know that the box says 5 and up I figured I could put it together.  I couldn't. Well after 30 min I had two squares put together and they keep falling apart. Complete Frustration!  I don't know any 5 year old who would like this toy.
Boo just touched it and it fell apart.
I so wish I could get my money back, but since I can't this is going in the next yard sale.
After getting it out of the box I checked out the reviews on Amazon - Someone put Worse Toy Ever! I would have to agree.

DO NOT BUY THIS TOY!

Party Food

Instead of a cake we had cupcakes.  I decorated them myself.  I didn't think that looked that good until Boo walked into the kitchen and said mommom (with amazement in his voice) and started to clap.  At that point the anyone could have told me they looked bad and I wouldn't believe them. I found the monkey toppers at JoAnn.  They were made by Wilton.
We had a hot dog bar with numerous choice of condiments.  I also made crockpot mac and cheese, bake bean and chips and cheesy bean dip.  A hot dog tip - if serving hotdogs at a party with kids buy less buns than dogs.   Otherwise you will have a lot of buns left over.

Dessert table.  Cupcakes and Banana pudding.  My MIL made a banana pudding and it was wonderful! I made one also and we finally finished it last night.

Monkey Party 2

Hung up pictures from Boos second year.  My Cricut made the letters and the monkeys.  This is on the wall in our hallway.

Banana party favors wrapped in monkeys, found free on pinterest.

Party Favor table. We also had Curious George fruit snack found at the Dollar Tree of all places.

Monkey Decorations Part 1

I couldn't find any Curious George Decorations so I just went with the colors Red, Yellow and Brown.  The following pictures will show you the dinning room and entry way of the house.
I had to include our Curious George books in our decorations.  He was the inspiration.  Bananas made a quick, cheap and easy decoration. Funny thing is that Boo doesn't like bananas.  I sent a lot home with my niece and nephew.  I guess that was the prize for being the last to leave.

We hung monkeys and a large pom pom in the entry way.  I also decorated the mirror with some Martha Stewart cupcake vinyl, and I hated them.  They wouldn't stay up at all.

Monkeys hanging from the ceiling fan.  They hung over dessert table.
The best shot I have of the dinning room and the dessert table.  Never under estimate the impact of crate paper streamers.
