Possible Nesting?

So I think I may be nesting. Except instead of wanting to clean I want to sew. But not like normal sewing. I want to finish all of these old projects that I have had on my list for a while now or ones that I don't need to get done until later in the year. It is a weird feeling to be driven to get something done for no other reason than your body is telling you to do it. Bo on the other hand has our house looking spotless. I'm guessing the baby is coming soon.

Cars Cape

A few years a go I made my nephew a cape from a pattern I found online, but I couldn't tell which site I got it from now. Somewhere along the way he lost it. Since I had a day off this week I decided to make him another one. This time I had all the supplies at my house.
The reverse side. Just plain black.

The front was done in a Cars remnant I had purchased with no particular thing in mind to make with it.
Since I have a little boy on the way and I had a little bit of fabric left I made another cape. It is not as wide as the one for my nephew but I think it will work. I had to take 1.5 inches off the width of the cape but it turned out just as cute and I like that they will have one a like.
Maybe my sister in law can send me a picture of this one in action.

Bathroom Update

I know it seems like our home projects go on for ever. Well, they really do. We are as completed as we are going to be for right now, but sometime in the spring I would like to buy some molding, stain it and frame the mirror. But until that time I'm going to call the bathroom complete. Here are a few pictures of it. You can't tell it from these pictures but we painted the cabinet and added new hardware. The knobs are elephants. It is amazing what a new light fixture and hardware can do for a room. We probably redid this room for $250.00 and it looks amazing.

Tonights Dinner

My first attempt at making crockpot Jambalya. It turned out pretty good. Next time I will add something to make it a little hotter.

More Things People Say

The following was a comment that was left the other day by an Anonymous reader:

The "Bo" thing is sickening. You aren't Bo and Hope!! Please shut it!
What is funny to me is that I had no clue who Bo and Hope were until I Googled them. Now I have a better idea who they are, but I'm still not sure why this was left on my blog. I probably shouldn't give it a response and explanation. But I can't help myself.
Why I call my husband Bo? It is a nick name his family gave him way before I came along and his family and people from his home town call him this. Actually one of the first times I heard him referred to as Bo consistently was at our wedding shower in his hometown.
I had always thought that I would marry a man whose name started with the same letter as my name, but sadly it didn't. My parents and grandparents have first names that start with the same letter and I always thought this was cool. So when I started my blog I just decided to call my husband by his nickname so that we could have first names with the same letter. It just seemed funny to me.
So in no way does this have anything to do with soap characters from the 1980s that I didn't have a clue who they were.

Movie Review

Monday night was the BCS National Championship and Bo didn't really want to watch it. You see he is an Alabama fan and he just couldn't see Auburn in this game. I know that it sounds crazy and you probably have to live in Alabama to understand it. So we went to the movies. His choice. Next time it is my choice.
We ended up seeing True Grit. Since westerns are not my favorite kind of movie I wasn't really looking forward to it, but I went anyway.
I have to say I really liked this movie. It had some funny parts in it and as a woman I had to love the grit and determination in Mattie Ross' strong character. Hailee Steinfeld was great in this movie and really held her own against Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon. I would highly recommend this movie and I know that I will watch it again when it comes to DVD and Blue Ray.

The Things People Say

Today Bo and I went to the Dr. to see how I'm progressing towards the delivery of our baby. Everything is going great!
As we were sitting in the waiting room Bo and another expectant dad started talking, part of their conversation went like this...

Other Dad: Is this your first Baby?
Bo: Yes.
Other Dad: You waited a while didn't you?
Bo: I guess?

I couldn't help, but laugh. Bo has a few grew hairs, but that is about it.

People just seem to say anything to us.

New Storage Building

I guess this means Bo and I officially have to much stuff. Actually the old building beside the new one smells like gas and motor oil because the is were the lawn mower and manly out door stuff is keep and who really wants to store the Christmas decorations next to that.

i finally gave in and broke down and agreed to another building. The new one is slightly larger than the old one because we just didn't understant how it was going to made. Our fault not theirs. Now I have a new building that I'm sure it will get filled with time, and then I'm moving to a larger house.

ICE Storm

We didn't receive any snow, but we did get ice. Bo braved the outside this morning to see how much ice we really got.

This ice is hanging off my car
One of the bushes out front.
Hanging from the roof.
Because we live in the south and this so rare we got the day off work.

sewings

More burp clothes. I think these are the last ones that I will be making for the baby for now. I used up some of the scraps of fabric that I had at my house.

Discounts for the Baby

Yesterday, I went to two of my favorite stores, Walgreen's and CVS. Lucky for me they had their Christmas stuff marked down 50% and 75% off.
I had to get the Baby's 1st Christmas hat, and I was so glad that it was in blue in white because anything specifically for a boy is hard to find.
The Christmas ornament I can't wait to make. Everything is included to make a mold of the baby's had at Christmas time. I think of it as one of my first crafts for the baby even though he will be almost a year old at Christmas next year. I love to see how much hands grow in a lifetime.

Have you found any good Christmas deals?

Coat Tree

For some unknown reason to me it has turned bitterly cold in the south. So I have a problem - what do I do with the Coats, hats, and gloves?
So I had this wonderful idea go get a coat rack. I went and got one and as soon as I put it together and put three coats on it. The wood broke and the coat rack fell down. Bo took it apart and put it in the bag. Now it is back to the store with this one and back to the drawling board for an idea for the coats. I so wish the builder of our house would have put in a coat closet or maybe it can just stay warm in the south in the winter.

Bag for Christmas Books

I know that I have been away from my blog for awhile now. I hope everyone understands that I have been busy with the holidays and getting ready for the baby that I haven't had much time to sew and I didn't think you really wanted to see me wash and seperate baby clothes.

I did make time to sew over New Years. I made this drawstring bag. I made it a little to large, but it works out great. I plan on using it for Baby's Christmas books. Several years ago I read about a mom that would put up their children's Christmas books and bring them out with the Christmas decorations making their Christmas books seem new again.
For Christmas the baby got several Christmas books from his grandmothers and cousins, then on Christmas day I hit a great sale at Target, 75% off all Christmas items including the Dollar Spot. Many of the books pictured below were a quarter a piece. You can't beat that. I can't wait to read these to the baby next Christmas.

I hope all of you had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.
