Alot of Excitment

A lot of things have happened since I last blogged:As you can see from this picture Boll Weevil is now into everything. He is still crawling a lot faster than he his walking, but he does have his first steps under his belt.

Boll Weevil has had his first Thanksgiving and he loves turkey and dressing/stuffing.

He also had his first trip to the ER - ear infections and high fever in the middle of the night are no fun for anyone in the family.

The biggest news of all is starting at the new year I'm going to be a stay at home mom. I am so excited about this. Bo and I have gone back and forth on this issue so many times. Finally we decided to give it completely to God, and funny how everything fell into place for me to stop working at this time in our lives. Bo and I are both looking forward to this. I know this transition will come with its own set of challenges, but I don't want to look back when I'm old and grey and say it is something I wish I would have done.

Happy Easter

I know it is a little late, but I still wanted to wish you a Happy Easter.

Happy 4th of July

Bo and I spent the 4th with his family at his grandmother's house. We spent the day swimming and having fun talking to his cousins. My parents came and eat supper with us. I'm really glad that both my parents and Bo's parents get along as well as they do.

I made sure to wear something red white and blue most of the day. Even when we were swimming.

Bo enjoying the pool. Bo and I are both lucky in the fact that we both grew up with pool. His at his grandmothers house two house away from the house he grew up in, and I was lucky enough to have one in my back yard. One day we both hope to have one. I just hope we are rich enough to have someone else take care of it.

Happy Valentine's Day

I made my felt heart garland. It didn't take long to make and I thought it looked good on the mantel. I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day. Bo took me to lunch and a movie.

I don't feel good!

Sorry for the lack of post this week. I haven't felt good at all. I have a stupid head cold. I go to work and as soon as I come home I lay down on the couch and sleep. I do have some things to share with you, but that will have to wait until after Thanksgiving because I plan to eat, shop, and visit with family the next couple of days.

Fun With Wigs!

Yesterday, we went to Wal-mart looking for some Halloween deals. We found all of this stuff for 75%. I think we got some good deals especially on the wigs.
Bo and I both had fun trying on the wigs. I have no clue what I was doing here.

Bo just looks so funny. I think he looks like a member of an 80's hair band.

Trunk or Treat

Bo and I participated in trunk or treat at church this year. This year our trunk was suppose to look like a pumpkin patch. I wore my pumpkin costume again this year. Next year I'm going to make costumes for Bo and I. If he could ever decided what he wants to be. I'm thinking a princess and prince charming.

Bo and I also had to man a game at the festival before the trunk or treat. We were at a game called Star Chaser which was just like Plinko. Plinko is much hard to explain to children than you would think. Also I was surprised by how many adults didn't know what Plinko was!

Pumpkin Carving

Okay Blogger is totally Messed up tonight. This is the final product and you can see how we got here you can read on.

I got to cut the top off of our pumpkin, but the rest I let Bo do.

He even got to scrap out the guts of the pumpkin.

I know I should have saved the seeds, but they just went into the trash.

Not the most green thing to do.

The final cuts and the final piece is out of its mouth.

Fall Decorating

Tonight, I plan to decorate for Halloween and Fall.

The last couple of years I really haven't had time to decorate.

This year Bo really wanted to. So we are taking the time to make our house festive.

Pumpkin Picking

Bo and I picked our pumpkin tonight at Publix.

I hope to carve it later in the week.

Columbus Day

So yesterday was Columbus Day and I celebrated the best way I knew how - I cleaned out my closet. I may not have discovered the new world, but I did find several articles of clothing that must go.

Because it was Columbus Day Bo and I continued our discussion that has gone over several weeks. He says that historically Columbus was a failure because he did not reach his stated goal of finding a route to the Indies. I on the other hand think that if I was the kind of failure that Columbus was I would be pretty happy with myself. Even though he didn't discover his route to the Indies he did discover the New World and made it widely know to most of Europe. (I know that it had been discovered before Columbus. Columbus just had better PR.) I doubt anybody is going to remember my name some 500 years after my death. To many other things have been discovered or invented acidentally while searching for what was thought to be the correct goal. Do we call these people failures? No we praise them for what they found! I don't care if Columbus accidentally found the new world or if he wasn't even the first to find it. I'm still going to celebrate Columbus Day.

32 Things About Me

Today is my 32ND birthday which I can't believe it has been two years since I turned 30! WOW time flies when your having fun!


So in honor of my birthday I decided to write 32 things about myself. Bo helped me come up with the list. So here goes...

1. I LOVE my name! It so fits me and I couldn't imagine being named anything else.



2. I have dimples. Bo always corrects me by saying dimple. One is more prominent than the other.



3. I went to Europe as a high schooler. But I have just as many fond of memories doing the fundraisers with my family as I do the trip. Thanks - Mom, Dad, and Brother



4. I have seen Niagara Falls.



5. I have never been to Mexico.



6. My yard is full of bunny rabbits that I have named Thumper, all of them.



7. I have a doe that eats out my yard that I have named Daisy.



8. No, I DON'T live in the country.



9. I like all kinds of music, but mostly listen to country.



10. I'm a beach person.



11. I want to retire in Florida. Bo and I want to retire to different parts of Florida so I'm glad we have some time to decide.



12. I have more fabric than I will ever be able to sew.



13. I wish I could draw better than I can.



14. I hate getting up in the morning. Always have. Always will.



15. I have tons of nicknames. I don't know why, but everyone seems to give me one.



16. I love to swim or at least be in the pool and read.



17. I love to bake. Cookies are my favorite thing to bake.



18. I love bright colors. The brighter the better.



19. Chick flicks rock. Some of my favorites are Sabrina, The Cutting Edge and Ever after.



20. Chick-fil-a is my favorite place to eat. I'm torn between the nuggets and strips being my favorite menu items, but I pretty much will eat anything on the menu.



21. Bob Costas gets on my nerves and I don't know why.



22. I loved the Braves when Ted Turner owned them. The same can be said for TBS.



23. I'm not a Yankees fan at all, but I would have loved to have gone to Yankees Stadium before they tore it down.



24. I could care less about football.



25. If I have to choose between Alabama and Auburn I'll choose Auburn, but when I have kids they will be raised Alabama fans I'm sure.



26. I love visiting Pennsylvania in the summer. I guess because I went there every summer as a child to visit my grandmother.



27. I love the feel of Kentucky Blue Grass under my feet. This is the type of grass my grandmother had in her yard and it always felt good and lush like carpet.



28. I have never been on a cruise.



29. I LOVE Disney World. It is my happy place. I have been 6 times in my life, and I'm sure the number will continue to grow. The first time I went was around the age of 1.



30. I like to shoot skeet. We usually only do it at Thanksgiving, but I wish we did it more often.



31. I have a very natural golf swing and enjoy the driving range, but actually playing golf is not something I enjoy.



32. I am very happy with my life, and I can't wait to see what my 32ND year on this earth brings.

Fun 4th of July Weekend

I had a packed weekend. It started on Thursday night when I meet up with some of my friends from high school. We had a really small class so this was right around half of the girls in my class. We had a blast. Sometimes you just need to see people who have know you most of your life, especially when life is a little serious.

On Friday we Bo and I spent with my parents and grandmother. We enjoyed our day. This watermellon has to be one the best ones I've had all summer.

The 4th we spent with Bo family and finshed the holiday off with fireworks.

Happy Presidents Day

Since today is President's Day, I thought that I would share with you my favorite president, Ronald Reagan. I think I like President Reagan mostly because I was a child in the 1980s. I guess I should have some better reason, but I just don't. I find other Presidents very fascinating, and the office totally intrigues me. Who is your favorite president and why?

Since, we have taken everything out of the closet in my sewing room to lay flooring in it, this week I will be sharing smocking projects I have made in the past. This pillow is the first picture smocking I did. I'm hoping the one day I will have a child to use this pillow in their room until then it will stay in the closet.

Valentine's Day Date

Bo and I just enjoyed our Valentine's Day together and this is our date in reverse.

We ended our night by going to a new restaurant in town. Mr. G's was wonderful and we will definitely go back. It is a local Italian and Greek restaurant. Again just wonderful!

Before we went to eat we went to GCO Carpet Store because they are going to remodel and they were having a huge sale. I walked in and fell in love with the rug pictured below. Bo and I have been looking for a rug for our bedroom, but we need an 8x8 rug and that is not a standard size. My boss recommended GCO because the make custom rugs, my new rug will be in a week. The funny think is the salesman told us the P. Diddy Combs has this same carpet in his bedroom except his is wall to wall carpeting and it is featured in one of his videos. By the way the name of this rug is Polar Bear. Bo asked for an extra discount on top of the sales price and they agreed to reduce the price another $37.50.

We started our date with some bowling. A new bowling alley has opened and it is so cool. It reminds me of a more family friendly version of Lucky Strike in the Rio in Las Vegas, which is a super cool bowling alley.

I won the first game and Bo won the next two. We both have decided to start going bowling on a regular basis. My Dad used to bowl every Monday night when I was growing up, and Maw also used to be on a team.

What Happened to Blakely?

I bet you have wondered what I was up to. Well, I can tell you it wasn't anything to exciting, and I haven't been sewing or crafting either, unless you count wrapping Christmas presents.

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Mine was great. I went to CVS to get some deals and then I headed to Bo's family farm to eat and have fun away from it all.

A Thanksgiving at the farm is not complete without shooting skeet. I got 2 out of 9. I'm also sporting some ear muffs that my father-in-law gave me last year for Christmas. They work great.

Bo did much better than I did at shooting. He got 6 for 6. No one wants to shot after him.

After all of this we headed an hour away and spent several days with my family. We went shopping. Bo and I were both up and at Walmart by 4:30a.m. on Friday. This is the only day that Bo will agree to go to Walmart. He absolutely HATES Walmart and refuses to go there.

Bo went to the Iron Bowl and I watched it at my brother and SIL new house. I had loads of fun even though Auburn lost and Bo hasn't rubbed it in to much that Alabama won.

Bo and I have also decorated the house. We have three Christmas trees up in our 1500 sq. ft. house. It may be just a bit much. Here are a few pictures from outside.

Cooking for Thanksgiving

Bo and I both have great parents and we love to spend time with them. Our families Thanksgiving day festivities are at different times so we are able to spend time with both sets. We will head to Bo's family farm to fish, ride 4wheelers, hit golf balls, shoot skeet, and EAT. There is all kinds of good food. Then we will head to my families house which is much more low key event and eat some more. Man, my mom makes the best baked corn, and she only makes three times a year Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. I look forward to it each time she makes it.

I plan to make for Thanksgiving sticky buns, pumpkin cake, and pumpkin trail mix.

I put the loafs of bread for the sticky buns in the oven to thaw and rise. When I started to make my cake I preheated the oven and forgot the loafs were in the oven rising. This is what I found when I went to put my cake in the oven.
Needless to say I had to go buy some more frozen bread loafs and I will have to make these in the morning. I did finish my cake and I also made some pumpkin butter. Bo questioned me to see if I was going to try and use every dish in the house. Because he nicely did the dishes while I cooked.

This is a picture of my Thanksgiving mix. I found this recipe several years ago in a Pillsbury cookbook. It is peanuts, candy corn and apple cinnamon cheerios. It is so tasty.
