This weekend I tried a new recipe. I found it on The Fairhope Foodie. Let me just say it was excellent, and I would definitely try it again.
It called for 4 can of white beans - rinsed
3 chicken breast
8 oz block of cheese - I didn't have this so I added a cup of shredded cheese, which was not enough
2 cups of salsa - I added a 24 oz jar
didn't call for this but I added - 1 can of chicken broth.
Cooked all day on low in the crock pot. I will eat the left overs for lunch this week.

Question
I don’t beg outside of a restaurant, but I was wondering how you handle it when people come up to you asking for money or for food. Do you give it to them or do you keep on walking? I’m asking this because yesterday Bo and I went to Arby’s for lunch. There was a man walking in the parking lot going from car to car asking for money to buy food. I felt lucky because he didn’t ask me on our way in the restaurant, but he was right there when we came out. At first I just kept on walking, but his repeating how hungry he was over and over again got to me. No, I didn’t give him money, I offered to by him food.
Our conversation went something like this…
Begging Man – Can I please have some money I’m Hungry (grabbed his stomach for affect)?
Me – No, I won’t give you money, but I will buy you a meal.
Begging Man – But I’m hungry. I need money.
Me – I am more than willing to buy you anything on the menu. We will go inside and I will buy you whatever you want, but I won’t give you money.
Begging Man- (thinks about it, even walks towards Arby’s.) then says to me that’s okay thanks.
Me – That’s okay, but I’m willing to buy you food.
Begging Man turns around and starts asking the people in the drive thru for money. I am sure the guy was hungry. I’m also sure whatever he wanted the money for he wanted more than food.
After we got in the car Bo said to that I had a good answer for him. I didn’t think of it as just a good answer I really did want to buy him food. I was willing to go into Arby’s and buy him whatever he wanted on the menu, but he didn’t take me up on my offer.
So that leads me back to my question – What do you do when someone ask you for money because they are hungry

Snowing
Yes, it was snowing this morning on the way to work. Well, I would call it a rain snow mixture, but still we are in Alabama. It is only suppose to snow like once every 5 years. This weather is just crazy.

Free Flowers
My friend and coworker dug up these flowers from her yard this weekend. I asked her what she was going to do with them. She responded with put them in the trash. Bo and I went to night and rescued some of them. We plan to make a flower bed with them. I think they are going to be purple iris, but we will have to wait and see what they are for sure.

Smocking
I decided since I was just going to watch the Olympics this weekend I should probably do something productive. So I decided to smock. This is as far as I've gotten. It is an insert for a stocking I'm making this for my niece who should be here in a couple of months. I just have to have this done by Thanksgiving. My parents still hang stockings at their house for my brother's family and for Bo and I. After I learned to smock I made new stockings for everyone. And as our family grows I have to make a new stocking.

Watching the Olymics
I go home at night wanting to do something creative, but then I turn on the TV. And the Olympics are on and I really can't miss this. I have very little athletic ability, but I do enjoy cheering on the USA. I love Curling because it looks like anyone has the potential to become an Olympic athlete. Tonight is ice dancing. I can't wait. Maybe I'll do something creative tonight/this weekend.

The Dog Show
Last night was the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show which I have watched for years. I always cheer on the Miniature Schnauzer, but they never win. They don't even win their group. I had to find a dog to cheer for when it came to Best in Show - Bo and I picked the French Bulldog,
Ch Robobull Fabelhaft Im On Fire, his name as found on the Westminster website.. He got beat by Sadie the Scottie, but we think he was robed. There's always next year. So what is your favorite breed of dog? Did it make it to best in show?

Pillows
Today, I took advantage of my day off by making some pillows for my living room. They look much better than this picture. I have had these cut out and sitting around waiting on me to sew them. This fabric is usually much more than I would have paid for fabric, but we have a local designer fabric store and they have a bargain basement that has a bind of sample for a $1.00 a sample. So total I have $8.00 in the fabric of these pillows. The ladies always look at me funny when I leave with an armful of fabric. One asked me one day what I was going to do with it and I told her I was going to make pillows out of it. She said I guess that is a good idea. I guess I got high end fabric for very little it must be a great idea.

Joann Fabrics
This is my first purchase from Joann Fabrics. I got the basket for my bathroom. The felt was purchased to make heart garland like this one. I know that Valentine's Day is Sunday, but I think if I cut them out tonight I can have one sewn up Thursday night.

Movie Reviews
This weekend Bo and I watched two movies and the Super Bowl. Needless to say we didn't get much done because we watched a lot of TV.
Temple Grandin was on HBO Saturday night, and I was really looking forward to watching it. There are times when I complain about the cost of HBO and then a movie likes this comes along and it reminds me why we pay for HBO. Temple Grandin is one of those movies that you continue to think about way after you have seen it. Claire Danes did a wonderful job. This movie was wonderfully made. Temple Grandin is Autistic and I loved the way the movie showed how she visualises things. It made me want to learn more about Temple Grandin, and how she improved the treatment of cows when they went to slaughter. Bo, who was a butcher while in college, found this very interesting. If you get HBO or if this comes to DVD it is a definite watch.
The other movie we watched was Night at the Museum 2. Let me say that this is not as good as the first one, but enjoyable. It is a good non thinking movie. I'm glad that we only paid a $1.00 for it from red box, which if you haven't checked out red box yet you need to.

January's Event
Remember when Bo and I said that we would have to experience something around town. Please ignore the dates on these pictures because we went on the 31st. We went to the Montgomery Home and Garden Show. It was really disappointing so I don't have any pictures inside. I think the oddest booth was the local funeral home.
The Conference center has this wonderful painting on one of the walls. I love this painting.
I would love to have it accept that it is $8,000.00.

Have you seen the sun?
Rain Rain Go Away
Come Again Another Day.
This is so how feel. I know that in the months to come we will want to see rain, but right now I just want to see the sunshine
For some reason I'm tired this week, and I think it's because I haven't seen the sun in FOREVER. I'm not one to talk about the weather, but this cloud cover has got to go. I don't mind the cold and wind, but not seeing the sun and ALL OF THIS RAIN is getting to me. Yes, we will have more rain today and probably tomorrow. Maybe I should start building a boat?
So what is the weather like in your area?
