Fabric Photo Frame

My blog friend Messy Karen generously gave me some great fabric last year. Today I was looking at it and loving it even moore. Not knowing exactly what I wanted to do with it then I held it up to the newly painted wall of my sewing room. Then I pulled out the staple gun and a small corkboard and went to town.

I had this great picture of Bo and I from our trip to Disney World. Which we went to for Bo's birthday, and I thought the fabric was perfect to put with it. This is what I came up with. I can't wait to hang it in my sewing room. I just LOVE it. I still have some fabric left. I can't wait to see what I can do with the rest of the fabric. Thanks again Karen.

Finally

I finally got my last Christmas present. Bo's dad asked me what I wanted for Christmas and I told him that I wanted some craft books and a pitcher with my monogram on it. Well he put Bo in charge of purchasing the craft books. Which all came except one. The book pictured below was guaranteed before Christmas arrival when Bo ordered it on December 18Th. It still hadn't come as this week. Bo finally got an email from Books-a-million saying that it was no longer available to ship and they credited our account. Well last night after we ate we went to the local Books-a-million store and lo and behold they had my book so I purchased it. We shop at Books-a-million because it is an Alabama corporation and located near our house. The guy at the store didn't understand why they couldn't ship it. He was really confused about the email we got and really nice. I so wish they would get their act together with their online site. So that is my little rant and now I'm off to craft.

Pintucks

Okay - It doesn't look like much, but it took me an hour and a half to make 4 strips of 11 rows of pintucks. Hopefully it will start looking like a dress soon.

Feeling Better

I am feeling much better. I appreciate all of you asking. I still don't have all of my energy back, but I'm getting there.

During one of my burst of energy I started to refold my fabric. This is all the farther I've gotten, but I hope to work on my stash over the weekend.

My nephew had his 2nd birthday party this past weekend. It was a farm theme. I just loved his cake. It was as good as it looks. My brother's assistant made it. She actually has a cake business on the side.
Nephew was one lucky kid to actually have ponies at his party. He loved riding them and petting them. We had so much fun.

Funny

Yes, I still read a newspaper pretty much daily. My dad reads the paper cover to cover and he can tell you more about what is going on in town than most people. My favorite daily part has to be the comic strips. They just make me laugh more than anything, and more than a few are taped to the fridge. Some of my favorites have to be Baby Blues, Crankshaft, For Better or Worse, and Pickles.

Pickles by Brian Crane can be found at Arca MaxPublishing.

This is today's comic strip I hope you find it as a funny as I did.

Rows of Lace

Before I got sick I sewed three rows of lace each is 60 inches long. This lace is going to be used in a high school graduation dress for my friend Lindy's daughter. Next week I hope to start on working on rows of pintucks. I'm hoping to have this finished by my May deadline.

Bronchitis

I was sicker than sick on Friday night. I had a 103 temp. Bo was actually away hunting and I called him around 10:30p.m. and he drove an hour home to take care of me. My mom drove two hours the next day to take care of me so Bo could go back to hunting trip. I never really go better and my cold turned into Bronchitis. I have had a breathing treatment at the Dr.'s office. Then I went home with a inhaler, antibiotic, steroid, and cough medicine. Needless to say I haven't been sewing. I haven't really left the couch. Bo has been great to me. He actually sleep on the recliner beside me. Bo was covered with the quilt pictured below. This quilt was made by Bo's grandmother. She actually made him three quilts: a baby quilt, a quilt for his 18th birthday (he won't use this one at all), and the one pictured below. I hope to get back into the swing of things soon starting with going to work tomorrow.

Sewing Teachers

Thanks for all the anniversary wishes. I hope to be here for many years to come.

I didn't sew this weekend because I went to visit my family. Two of my mom's four sisters came to visit. The picture below is of my aunt, in red, my mom and I. Both my aunt and my mom have taught and encouraged me with all of my sewing endeavors. My mom and my aunt are both very accomplished seamstresses. (My mom made my senior prom dress.) I'm glad that they were/are always willing to teach me and answer many questions.

New Years In New Orleans

Bo and I had a great time in New Orleans even if Bama didn't show up to play.

Bo and I along with his cousin and his wife enjoyed a nice dinner at Brennan's and then we watched the fireworks from Jackson Square.

While we walked around the French Quarter and I found a great store, The Quarter Stitch Needlepoint. I purchased a cute peppermint tape measure, hand made buttons, and a tin ornament.

Oh, I wanted to let you know that I haven't purchased any fabric in the new year, but I did stop by Joann Fabrics in Mobile on the 31st. I got the fabric pictured below.

Happy New Years

Bo and I are off visiting New Orleans so hopefully this will post correctly.

I would thought that I share with you my New Years Resolutions or what I like to call my goal for the new year. I have broken them down into three categories Crafting, Life and Money. I will only post Crafting and Life here. If you would like to see the ones related to money check out Because We're Cheap Like That. On with the resolutions and goals.

Crafting

  1. Purchase no new fabrics. I know that this will be hard, but I'm going to leave myself open to purchase fabric when I need it to finish a project, but nothing for my stash.

  2. Make Lizzie's graduation dress. Lizzie is my boss/co-worker's daughter at her high school graduation they wear French hand sewn dresses. So Lizzie and I will be working on her dress it has to be finished by May.

  3. I would like to smock at least 3 items.

  4. I would like to enter my sewing stuff in the Alabama National Fair.

  5. I would like to get more readers to my blog. Along with posting more.
  6. Finish at least 2 UFO. I mean if I was really into the item it would be finished already.

Life

  1. Go to church more regularly. I think that the next one will help with this.

  2. Go to bed earlier and get up earlier. See I told you that the first one will help. This will also help me get to work on time.

  3. Exercise + Eat Right = Lose Weight. Isn't this equation that works. I want to lose 30lbs.

  4. Clean out and re-organize the closets and cabinets.

  5. Finish all home projects and actually invite people over to see them.

  6. Eat at home more often at least four times a week.

  7. Keep the fridge cleaned out weekly.

  8. Make monthly food menu and eat what is assigned to that day. Post menu on Because We're Cheap Like That

  9. Keep house better.

Hopefully, when I post next year's resolutions I can actually say I completed most of these.
