A Martha Stewart Craft

Lets just say that this project had some ups and downs to it.

Pictured above are Tissue Paper Pom-Poms that I found directions for on Martha Stewart's website and may blogs have also featured these.

The Up side -

  1. They are extremely easy to make.

  2. They look great even when hung together and not floating from the air. We decided to hang our outside under one of the tents.

  3. They didn't take much time to make at all.

  4. The items needed to make them weren't that hard to find at all.

The Down side-

  1. They take up a lot of room.

  2. To make them look cooler I probably should have cut the ends a little differently. But working with 8 layers of tissue paper is kind of thick.

  3. Monofilament! Well this was the hardest piece to find in the craft store but lucky for us a nice worker finally found some for us. And then it keep on breaking on us. So next time I make them Bo says I'm just going to have to use fishing line.

  4. They are kind of hard to hang on a windy day.

Overall, I will make these again and use them for decorations at future parties.

Table Setting

A co-worker of mine let me borrow some fancy table clothes. Because I sure don't have any of my own. I'm normally a little bit more casual than fancy table clothes.
I wish I had taken a better picture of the flower pots to show you, but my day was kind of rushed.
Bo and I took a night and put Boll Weevil's footprints around the flower pots. Needless to say this was a little bit harder than we thought it would be.
I have to say that this was not an original idea. I actually got this idea from my sister-in-law, CC. On the first mother's day that my nephew was alive he gave me a flower pot with his foot prints all around it. Then when my niece came along I got one from her too. Now both of these sit beside my bed and hold pens and note pads because I can't stand the thought of them being outside. So I thought I would incorporate this great idea into my luncheon decorations.
Every family got to take flower pot home with them. It also had Boll Weevil's name and the date of his baptism on it. A party favor and decoration all in one.

Cross Stich

I had a great Memorial Day Weekend. We had a good deal of rain, but it was needed.
I did start working on a cross stitch pattern. I wanted something that I could get done pretty quickly. I think if I work on this every night I could have it done by the weekend. Don't worry I have more cross stitch kits to work on after this one.

Felt Hearts

last night I cut out all of my felt hearts for my garland. I used my pinking shears to give the hearts a little more texture. It took longer than I thought to cut them out. I hope to sew up my garland tonight, giving me a few days to enjoy my garland before Valentine's Day is over.

Ornaments

Several weeks ago I made two dozen marbleized ornaments. I made some with the colors of Christmas, Penn State, Alabama and Auburn. Who doesn't want a football team themed ornament. I think one day Bo and I are going to have a tree with just College football team ornaments on it.
I had one problem the paint didn't cover completely or when I drained the ornament the paint cracked. Any idea what I did wrong? I cleaned the ornaments with vinegar and I let them dry completely before painting.

A dozen of my ornaments. I thought they just looked cool in the box.

Maybe when the light shines threw them the paint cracking may make them look good.
I can't wait to give these out to my family members. My mother-in-law picked out several that she liked.
