Tools of the Trade

I love it when I'm making a project and I need all the tools I can think of to finish an outfit.  If you can't tell by this picture I had to add snaps to Boo's Easter Outfit.

Procrastination

Worked on this of mending instead of finishing Boo's Easter Outfit.  Only buttons and snaps are left to finish it, and.I'm done.  I promise I'll get it done today or tomorrow

Measure Once Cut Twice

I made some new curtains for the dinning room, but I apparently didn't measure correctly.  The one was about 8 inches longer than the other one.  This has been corrected and they look great.
I have had this fabric around the house for years and just decided it was time for it to go. It was either make something or sell it.  I have a little more left I'll see if I can use it somewhere else or else it will be in the next yard sale.
Have you ever miss measured when sewing?

Train Outfit

Boo is really into trains right now.  So I had to make him a train shirt.
The train applique came from Planet Applique.
Lucky for me my aunt gave Boo this shirt for Christmas and I had fabric that matched it perfect.

An Action shot.

Boo is standing kind of awkward but it is the best picture I have of the entire outfit.

Trying to take a picture of a 2 year old is like herding cats.

Dog Pants

I made Boo a simple pair of pants the other day and he enjoyed them so much.  I made them from a costume pattern (Simplicity 3650)  because I only wanted them to have an inside seam. I really liked this fabric because my grandparents had a Dachshund  when I was little and it reminded me of them.
Boo liked these pants because the gave him plenty of room to run.
And slide

a close up of the fabric.
I'm having second thoughts about making something that needs a white shirt for a two year old boy.  I can already see many washing with lots of Resolve in its future.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I decided that our house needed a touch of green this St. Patrick's Day.

Favorite Area

Okay - the other day we deep cleaned our room and it reminded me of an are of the room that I absolutely love.  Sorry, about the photo quality. I just couldn't get the lighting correct.

Boo really didn't want me to take a picture of the area behind him.

I love the top of our hi-boy.  The pictures on the wall of the Hawaiian shirts were purchased while we were on our honeymoon in Hawaii.  The rooster was my grandmothers and Bo is the one that saw that it really fit in between the Hawaii pictures.  The pictures have been added over time.
Do you have an area of your house that you didn't start out liking, but turned out that you loved?

Fancy Food

It isn't really the fanciest of food, but for weeks that usually have a  night of hamburger helper, favorite local Mexican place and  Friday night pizza these dishes seem kind of fancy for us.
Last Tuesday night we had Lobster Mac and Cheese.  When we were in Michigan last June Boo and I shared some excellent Lobster Mac and Cheese.  He loved it and I have been thinking about making it for a while.  Well Publix had a Lobster tails BOGO and Kraft Homemade mac &cheese on sale.  So I just had to make this.  We loved it! But it won't be something I make to often

Last night I made Italian Sausage stuffed shells.  I consider this a fancy meal because of the amount of time it takes to make it.

boo cleaned his plate.

Do you have any fancy dishes you like to make?

Mopping

The rainy season has set in and it means tons of dirt and stuff comes in the house.  I am so glad that I have my Shark steam mop.  We got it for Christmas and I can say I love it.  I don't think I can ever say I love to mop, but this mop does make more enjoyable.

Released from the Dr

Boo wasn't to happy to be going to the dr., but we went anyway.  When we pulled into the doctors office he let out a big Ut Oh!  I should have known then it was going to be a good visit. Well Boo didn't really behave, but we were told that he was healing great.  We celebrated with a trip to the zoo and a mexican dinner.  Two weeks without chips and salsa almost killed all of us.

Book Bag

It has been a LONG two weeks of healing.  We have watched a lot of movies, ate a lot of soft food (he doesn't like ice cream), and staying inside away from people and germs.  I'm glad to say my little guy is getting better and back to himself.

I did do a little sewing while he would take a nap.
I wanted to let y'all know about one of my pet peeves.  I hate it when a piece of fabric is cut uneven when I  purchased it.  The fabric pictured below was so uneven it couldn't be used.

I got some other fabric and made a draw string bag to hold Valentine's Day books. I love the way it turned out. I used some ribbon I already had for the closing.
I had these books before Valentine's Day books.
I got all of these after the holiday.  I was lucky enough to find them at Walmart in with all the clearance holiday stuff.  I can't wait to read them next year.
I'm glad to be back and hope to get Boo Easter outfit finished soon.
