Cleaning Out

Sorry about the lack of post this week. I guess Bo and I have gotten into fall cleaning. We have cleaned out our chest of drawers, dresser and part of the closet. I'm not really sure why we've hung on to some of this stuff for so long. Maybe there will be more time for sewing next week.

Wedding Weekend

This weekend my brother-in-law and his girlfriend of five years got married. It was a lovely wedding. Here is a picture of the bride and groom. The bride's veil was the one her mother had it her wedding. It was handmade by a family member.

Pins and Needles

Last night Bo stepped on something with his bare feet, and before he looked to see what it was he said, "It's either a pin or a needle" This is a huge change in reaction from the first time he stepped on a pin.

The first time went something like this:

Bo: Loud Ouch
Me: What happened?
Bo: A bee stung me. I don't know how it got in the carpet, but I know a bee stung the bottom of my foot.
Me: A bee stung you? Are you sure?
Bo: Yes, and it hurts.
Me: Let me see.

He showed me his foot and we pulled out the pin. Needless to say I thought this was funny and he did not.

We told this story to my mom and dad, and my dad's advise to Bo was to just to get used to it because it wouldn't be the last time he'll step on a pin or needle.

So last night I could only laugh at how far we have come as a couple in the few years we have been married. But I know that I'll have to be better about pins and needles with a baby in the house next year. Any advise on keeping them from falling out of your projects?

Christmas Already

Unlike many I think about Christmas all year long. Not the actual stress of the Holiday, but I do pay attention to what people mention things they would like and then I try to find them on sale or go ahead and make them. This is a homemade gift for someone I'm sure doesn't read my blog.
I usually make these blankets with two yards of fabric, but since the receiver of this gift is taller I decided to make it with 2.5 yards. After I finished this Bo said I like this longer length. Who knows I may end up making another one for Bo. Let me just say one thing it is a lot harder to crawl around on the floor at 5.5 months pregnant. I should let you know that Bo helped me tie this blanket together.

First B-day Celebration

Last night Bo took me out for dinner. We went to The House at the downtown Marriott. I have only eaten there once for lunch and Bo has never eaten there. But I'm sure we will go again. Let me just tell you the food was wonderful and reasonably priced. We both enjoyed our dinner and the view. Montgomery is having a revitalization of downtown and it is amazing to see what is happening to an area that just a few years ago no one really went to.
At the end of our dinner we were given our lollipop dessert. I just thought the display was just adorable and seemed very easy to do for a party decorations.
I was goofing off and Bo snapped this picture. I told him that I was going to lick both of the lollipop and not give him either. I was just joking with him, but this is the picture he took. We both actually taste both of them. I ended up liking the pink one, which was strawberry, the best and Bo liked the cream one, vanilla.
Needless to say that we both enjoyed our dinner out. Bo, thanks for a great birthday dinner!

Surprise! Pumpkin Cake

My birthday is on Sunday, and Bo decided to surprise me with a pumpkin cake from his works bake sale. Let me just tell you this was the most moist and delicious pumpkin cake I have ever had.

V Neck Shirt.

Why in world do I try over and over again to make v-neck shirts? They never seem to work out for me and I have to take them to my mom to fix.
I started to make this pajama shirt to match my nephews pajama pants. But as you can tell from these pictures it isn't working out. These pictures were taken after several attempts to attach these pieces together correctly. Thankfully, I'll see my mom this weekend and I hope she can fix it.
Not what this shirt should look like.

Girls Taggie Blanket

Since my last taggie blanket was so easy to make I thought I would make another one for my niece. She is 5 months old so I think she will enjoy it a lot. From cutting out to last stitch sewn about two hours worth of time. Some of the time was spent picking out the ribbon and placing it just so around the fabric.
I used some green minky dot and some cute pink polka dot fleece I had in my stash. I still have plenty left over to make a few more.

This is the front of the taggie blanket. Now I'll have something to give my niece when I give my nephew his pajamas. I can't do for one without doing something for the other.

Penn State v. Alabama

Bo and I went to Tuscaloosa this weekend to watch Penn State v. Alabama. We are not the traditional house divided in Alabama. Yes, that's right I'm a Penn State fan at heart. More than likely it has something to do with my parents growing up a half our away from the campus and Maw being a huge Penn State fan. When Maw died some of her tailgating buddies from 20 years ago came to her funeral. They must have been a tight group of people. I still don't completely understand football, but I'm understanding why Maw liked to go tailgate at the games.

Next year Bo and I hope to go to the game at Penn State. I plan on staying with relatives. So if they are reading this I may need a place to sleep in your basement and you could help me find some tickets.

As you can see by this picture Bo and I got a little wet. Okay make that a lot wet. It rained just long enough to soak everything and then it stopped. All our tailgating friends keep on saying, "last weeks game had beautiful weather."

The tiny speck in the blue jacket is Joe Paterno. I just hope when I'm 83 I am still able to get around and do something I love as much as he seems to. I think I heard a thousand times on Saturday, "Joe Paterno should just retire." or "He's old". So what. We are all going to get old one day. Sorry for the little rant, but I don't anyone to tell me what to do when I'm 83.
I just thought that this was an interesting picture on the big screen.

Pajama Pants

Nephew LOVES animals! So I thought I would make him some new pajamas. I used either a McCall's or Butterick pattern to make these, but I can't find it online. They went together super easy. The matching shirt is cut out and ready to be sewn up.

Swamp People

Great Show! Bo and I love to watch this show. We have decided that Troy and his crew are one of our favorites. I love the fact that they show several of the crews making items for them to take with them aligator hunting. This has to be the most entertaining hunting show I have ever watched, and I can say I have watched more hunting shows than I would like to mention.
Definately check out this show if you haven't already.

Troy and his crew.

September is here!

September has always been a busy month for Bo and I. We always seems to have tons of stuff happening this month like birthdays, football games, and this year Bo's brother is getting married in September. Needless to say our September is always hectic.

But we always start the month off right with a good trip to the beach with my family.
Earlier this year we worried about the oil spill, but we didn't see any evidence of the spill except a few BP workers walking the beach. They really stuck out because they had on jeans and work boots as they walked along the beach. I bet they were asked the same question 50 times within my ear shot. It was "Have you seen anything?" over and over again.
This is Bo swimming in the Gulf.

I just took this picture to show how clear the water was this weekend. It was so calm almost like a lake.
Besides swimming we also went out to eat, shopped, and played games at the arcade.
I just wanted to let you know if you are thinking about going to the gulf coast Panama City Beach looked wonderful and there were some deals to be found.

Rolling and Whipping

Don't laugh but it took 2 and half hours to roll and whip this neck band by hand. I have worked on this day gown for a few years now, but now that I have some one who will wear this I hope to finish it by the end of the month. Most of the work left on it is hand work which always take a long time.
